PEWTER

Did you know that pewter is considered to be the fourth precious metal in the world... besides platinum, gold and silver. Compared to the other three metals, pewter is not taken as seriously! You can enjoy pewter's status by wearing pewter jewellery or enjoying the many different types of elegant pewter tableware. Don’t worry, pewter is very durable. It will never deteriorate or even rust. Canwest Art Gallery on the Lake offers lead-free pewter products, sourced from the Canadian Province of Newfoundland. Ancient people had used pewter since the Bronze Age.

BATEMAN'S EAGLE CAPTURING A SALMON

In the Pacific Northwest, spawning trout and salmon provide most of the bald eagles' diet from late summer throughout fall. When food is abundant, an eagle can gorge itself by storing up to 1 kg (2.2 lb) of food in a pouch in the throat called a crop. Gorging allows the bird to fast for several days if food becomes unavailable.

HUMMINGBIRDS

symbolize peace and guide you through life’s challenges. They are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings which flap at high frequencies audible to humans. They hover in mid-air at rapid wing-flapping rates, which vary from around 12 beats per second in the largest species, to in excess of 80 in some of the smallest. To conserve energy when food is scarce, and nightly when not foraging, they can go into torpor, a state similar to hibernation, slowing metabolic rate to 1/15th of its normal rate..

CLASSY POTTERY FOR KIDS

Is there a way to encourage young children finish their plates, develop their language skills or to improve visual learning? An interesting article from Grace Hwang Lynch, an American journalist/essayist, about parenting says that many of the motions involved in making art, such as holding a paintbrush or scribbling with a crayon, are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children.. We do support her observations and encourage creativity at all age levels, particularly at pre-school ages, with cool Children's 3 piece place settings

The cup containing butter is placed into the base, where water creates an airtight seal that keeps the air (and thus oxygen) away from the butter so that refrigeration is not needed,
